Royaltech Benn Glazier

Rambling and blogging for over 8 years, from good food and drink around town, eclectic electronic music, absolutely anything to do with digital media, throw some sport (more than likely cricket) in and the odd personal experience — as seen through my viewfinder.

Global Techno Power

More techno flavoured links. Alan Oldham aka DJ T-1000 has a new site up. Displays a selection of his label and comic artwork over the years. Check out the old Hardwax art, the Johnny Gambit comic that Derrick May wrote, plus his Dangergirl comic (as a side note, Dangergirl was the name of a female Adelaide DJ in the early/mid 90s). Unfortunately, no samples of the comic he did for Plus 8 which featured the Suburban Knights vs Underground Resistance, Cybersonik and Speedy J in search of the Random Noise Generator.

Also of note are the downloadable MP3’s of Fast Forward, the radio show Alan used to do on WDET back in the day. Now I’d love to see someone dig up old copies of Global Techno Power (GTP) the zine produced by UR - that’d bring back some memories.

Speaking of memories (and old zines), I currently don’t know where my collection of Sub Lumen zines are. If anyone has a complete set, I’ll pay for their postage and return, so I can scan/re-type the articles and host them online.

The Definition Of Bizarre

Getting sent porn spam and one of your own typefaces is plastered all over it and the website. I can guarantee that they didn’t pay for it either!

Nice call - as said by Adam Spencer, MC at the awwwards last night.

Tequila pretty much stole the show with 4 awards across Melbourne and Sydney plus taking ‘Best In Show’. Not much to be said, but just another night of typical industry shenanigans. Oh, the lamb shanks were tasty too.

EdiblePlastyc Launch

I’m being featured in EdiblePlastyc Design Cult, which will be launched on November 14th at eFiftyFive, 55 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne from 6pm. Be there, or don’t be funky.

Wallpaper*

Recieved my latest Wallpaper* magazine today. If you haven’t seen this magazine before, then I recommend you hunt it down. It’s availability is certainly on the up. However, I have to say I was somewhat dismayed this afternoon whilst having a thumb through. This issue sees the introduction of different paper qualities. Some may enjoy the wood pulp like thickness of the front part of the magazine, but I’m a gloss man. Also, the printing quality isn’t as good on the thicker weight paper.

That aside, Ingvar Kamprad is a legend. I wonder how many of you out there have something from his empire, or have browsed his catalogues or even entered one of Scandinavian supermarkets. Surprising quality while being budget conscious.
