Benn Glazier [weblog]

I've recently relocated to London from Sydney and I'll ramble about good food and drink around town, eclectic electronic music, absolutely anything to do with digital media, throw some sport (more than likely cricket) in and the odd personal experience — as seen through my camera lens.

Movember: Day 13

The halfway point approaches
Now we’re getting serious!

Sponsoring me for Movember is simple! Find out how here.

If you’re a little unsure about what this pursuit is, then check out my original Movember post, or go to the Movember website.

Countless jibes and with $205 on the board, the MO is going well, but the dollars are nowhere near enough! My target is $1000 and you can help. Sponsoring me is easy. Find out how here.

Thanks to all for their donations so far!

Still not sure what this is all about? Check out my original Movember post, or go to the Movember website.

Movember – Day 3

Movember - Day 3

You can sponsor me this month whilst I’m growing my mo to assist in Prostate Cancer research. Find out how here.

It’s Movember Again…

benn movember 2005

And you know what that means! Facial hair reigns supreme for the next 30 days.

During Movember I’ll be growing a moustache. That’s right I’m bringing the Mo back again this year as I’m passionate about changing the state of men’s health. Check out the evidence from last year’s effort!

Male health is a major issue that often goes unnoticed in the media. Did you know that:
— Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 6 years less than females.
— Every year in Australia 2,700 men die of prostate cancer – more than the number of women who die from breast cancer.
— Depression affects 1 in 6 men. Most don’t seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide. Rates of suicide are more than double the national road toll.

How to donate?
Help me change the face of men’s health by sponsoring my mo — my rego number is 25382. All donations of AU$2 and over are tax deductible.

The money raised by Movember will be used to change the face of men’s health by creating awareness and funding research into prostate cancer and depression.

movember
Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Partè where I’ll be parading my Mo on the cat walk for a chance to be crowned the Man of Movember. If you want to be part of this great night you’ll have to purchase a Gala Partè ticket for $33.00 (inc GST).

Movember is proud partners with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue – the national depression initiative.

Last Chance!

Tomorrow, the Puma Lap will be held – I’ll be running at 4.30pm. You can still sponsor me until the 17th.

Here’s a message from Sarah O’Hare telling you why it’s a good thing to sponsor!

Speaking of treadmills, you’ve probably seen it before, but it’s worth a replay.

Jeans For Genes Day

Get your jeans out as this Friday is Jeans for Genes Day, the day you get to wear jeans to work for a great cause: finding cures for children’s diseases. Jeans for Genes Day is a FUNdraising day for the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI).

Find out how you can be involved this Friday at the Jeans for Genes website.

Whilst we’re talking about children, here’s an interesting blog to say the least from MetroDad. Thanks to Kel for giving me the tip on this one.

Don’t give peppered beef jerky to a 21-month-old child unless you want to spend the next 20 minutes on the Long Island Expressway listening to what sounds like Mozart’s Die Zauberflote being performed by an orchestra of cats who are in the process of being euthanized.

No. No! We’re not about to have kids, but as you can see, there’s some damn amusing parenthood commentary.

Get On The Treadmill For A Cause

The Lap I’ll be taking part in The Puma Lap on September 8 in Martin Place.

So… What’s The Puma Lap you ask? It’s an initiative to raise funds for the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute by getting us out of the office and onto a treadmill to see how many 100 meter laps we can run – and at the same time competing against other corporate teams to outrun each other.

What I’m asking you to do is to please dig deep into your pockets – whether it be on behalf of yourself or your organisation. It’s a fantastic cause, and one I’m proud to be assisting.

You can sponsor me online here. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible*.

Get your butts into gear and give it up for a great cause! It’s only 5 weeks away, and I need all the help I can get – both monetarily and quite possibly mentally for taking up this challenge.

* In Australia. You will of course need to check for your own country.

Shave For A Cure 2006

The Leukaemia Foundation are once again staging the “World’s Greatest Shave“. You don’t have to be as hirsute as this guy, nor do you have to go under the razor.

Anyone can participate and raise funds to assist the battle against leukaemia. All you need to is to go the website and register – it’s simple! Whilst you’re at it, dob a couple of your workmates in as well.

I’ve done it several times in the last few years, raised a few thousand dollars, and had a lot of fun in the process.

Just remember, your hair gets another chance to grow back, but those who are suffering from the ill effects of leukaemia might just not get that chance.

Movember’s over!

That’s it! It’s over! It’s gone. Movember has come and gone. Thanks to those who have sponsored me. Funds are up around the $400 mark. However, you can still sponsor if you missed out.

Lots of photos from the journey and a quality pic from Tuesday night’s Gala Party.
