Jim is an interesting album. Jamie seems to have transcended the electronic presence of his earlier albums. this seems to be a natural progression for a musician who through success, now has access to more live instrumentation and recording.
one is immediately aware of Jamie’s influences when listening to this album. old skool funk ala Curtis Mayfield infuses with an almost gospel feel. Jamie hams it up with catchy fun loving lyrics as he twists and turns and his playful vocal compositions. this album is simple, in a good way.
