It’s day 14 and I’m still nowhere near 100%, so I’ve got nothing exciting to discuss. I finally got back to work on Thursday, it was a struggle to make it to 5pm each… anyway, I digress, here’s some links that have kept me amused over the past week or so.

Phnomenon – With my trip to Cambodia coming up, this blog entertains with food writings from Phnom Penh. You might want to check out his thoughts on funky, rustic fusion cooking as well. Ahem. I think if I thought of funky, rustic cooking here in Sydney, I’d probably get some no talent hack chef who think’s he’s an electro house DJ on the side.

A lawyer is suing his dry-cleaner for $65 million because they lost his pants. Not even Kiton costs that much.

More money, James Simons, hedge fund manager, earned $1.7 billion last year. Not million, billion. His company charges fees of 5% of assets and 44% of profits while the fund grossed 84% this year. Zing!

Lists – the 2007 top 50 restaurants were announced last week. Tetsuya’s held its place at #5. Spain’s El Bulli held the top place, and the best restaurant in the Americas – The French Laundry ranked #4 (First wedding anniversary celebration perhaps?). An interesting adjunct to this list is that The Fat Duck (ranked #2) recently offered a course complete with its own soundtrack served up via iPod.

Who’s in the Time’s Top 100 Most Influential list? Well George W. Bush isn’t, but both Barack and Hilary and Al are. There’s also the Alt 100 list – put together by Xzibit, Bridget Marquardt, Eddie Sanchez, Tommy the Clown, Dr. Boogie, Jimmy Jimmy Coco and Glenda Borden – they’ve produced the real deal top 100. Oh, and wondering who these people are? Yeah, I was too… just read the first page and you’ll find out that they’re extremely important people in society, names you’ll need to know and remember – just remember that.
