The Worst Pizza in Sydney!
I’m certainly not intentionally going on the search for the worst pizza in town. That prize is possibly held by the either the greasball fast food joint on Darlinghurst Road in Kings Cross or another one of the same variety on George Street. However, neither of those places would consider themselves as restaurants, more like 4am post-drink pre-taxi cab haunts for the drunkards who would not know what they are consuming at that point in time.
A late night at work and some pizza was on order, tonight from Dimitri’s on Crown Street. Half an hour later and one of most anaemic looking pizza arrives at our door. Perhaps looks aren’t everything? Perhaps they may help. Anyway, this would go on record as one of the worst pizzas ever. The best part was the base, and even that wasn’t great. Prawns - ahh yep, that’d be frozen shrimp and there’s was about 6 of those on the whole pizza. Pineapple - I think they must have run out, since pineapple is such an unusual ingredient. Zero taste and a $20 pizza that would be better served lining a cat litter box. That’s one place we wont be going back to!
So.. have you got any recommendations for pizza in the Surry Hills area?

the woodfired pizza place on crown isnt very good either.
with that scenario, you’d been better off with cheese on toast!

They mustn’t like the look of you there Benn
Went there last week, with a table of 8 we had the special, supreme, garlic, caprisioca (sp?) and perhaps another one or two. This would be about the 5th or 6th time I’ve been there and we’ve never really had any complaints. I enjoyed the base (I love superthin bases) and haven’t had any problems with them being scummy with ingredients.
The pizzas there remind me of the kind of pizza I used to eat as a kid when my Dad used to take me to Leichhardt. Perhaps its just a nostalgia thing (although you’re the first person I know who’s complained about it).

I wanted to share with you an unfaultable amazing pizza experience I’m prepared to stake my very credible reputation upon: Zesti Wood Fire Pizza, 413 Darling St Balmain. Takeaway only. Despite the throngs of authentic italian pizzerias in Balmain, my suggestion is that you sidestep them all and head down to the 100% asian-owned and run pizza mecca that is Zesti. Bloody great!

Zeno’s pizza is pretty good for the price and if you want nothing too ‘gourmet’ and erm Elvis’s in Rushcutter’s bay. Erm, there is also one on Cleveland St…can’t remember the name tho..
I’m like Dave, I like the ones that remind me of Aldo’s Pizza in Richmond when I was lil.

Here’s some more thoughts from others…
A lot of Dimitri fans though! Did we just have a really, really bad night.
Have to say that Crust on Crown Street has been serving us well, but it’s been a while and time to try somewhere new.

I think we’ve got this sorted now. Slice on Crown is the bomb.
